Today I announced that I am leaving my position at Smile Software to devote myself full-time to managing and growing the App Camp For Girls program. (Read Smile's press release.)
We are at a critical time in the growth of the program. We are developing our curriculum and making plans to expand the program outside of Portland. The number of girls who are interested in participating is far beyond our current capacity. I will be filling this position as an unpaid volunteer, while fundraising for the camp so that we can have paid employees in the near future to take App Camp to the next level.
After working nearly 10 years at Smile, it is sad to leave the people and products that I've come to love. The support I've received from my colleagues, especially my former partners Philip Goward and Greg Scown, has been tremendous. They've made it possible for us to launch App Camp For Girls. Two of my Smile colleagues, Maia Olson and Natalie Osten, are key volunteers for the program. I wish the whole team at Smile the best going forward, and will continue to act as an advisor and a friend of the company.
