This summer will mark the seventh year of our week-long, daytime, summer program where girls, transgender, and gender non-conforming youth put their creative powers to work designing and building apps.
Camps will take place in July and August in Portland, Seattle, and the Twin Cities area. Space is very limited and we take students on a first come, first served basis, so we recommend that you register right away. Camp dates are:
Portland, OR: July 8-12, 2019
Seattle, WA: July 15-19, 2019
Minneapolis, MN: August 12-16, 2019
Participants will be introduced to the process of iOS app development, from brainstorming and designing ideas to building and pitching their apps. They'll use Mac computers and Apple's developer tools to build their apps and run them on iPod touch devices. More than that, they’ll discover their own creativity and emerge stronger, more self-assured, and more independent because of it. It's an amazing and unique experience that’ll propel them forward in life.
Past participants have loved their App Camp experience, and it’s evident in their feedback:
“It is fun being able to create an app and the counselors are AMAZING.”
“[App Camp] helped me with my confidence and how to type faster.”
“It was fun and a very accepting inclusive community.”
“[It] was really fun as a beginner to learn how to code.”
Camp tuition is $500 for the week, but scholarships are available for families who need financial assistance.
We're looking forward to seeing all of the new faces at camp this year!
